Please join the Houston Chapter of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) on Thursday, December 11 for our monthly meeting.

Loren Steffy, business columnist for the Houston Chronicle, will speak on the topic: American Energy Usage- Are Old Habits Too Hard to Break? 

REGISTRATION: You are encouraged to RSVP via the on-line system at http://iaeehoustondec2008.eventbrite.com/--using the electronic system expedites your security screening at the Federal Reserve. You may pre-pay for your registration with a credit card, or you may indicate that you will pay via cash or check at the door. If you are registering or purchasing tickets for your colleagues, please provide the name of each person in your party to expedite entry through security. Registration closes 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

LOCATION: The meeting will take place at the Federal Reserve Bank located at 1801 Allen Parkway in Houston, TX. The talk will be followed by a brief Q&A session.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: LOREN STEFFY is the business columnist for the Houston Chronicle. Previously, he worked for Bloomberg News in Dallas, most recently as Texas bureau chief and senior writer for Bloomberg Markets magazine. Steffy covered a variety of business topics in Texas and across the country, including the collapse of Enron. Before joining Bloomberg, he worked at the Dallas Times Herald, the Dallas Business Journal and the Arlington Daily News. His columns have received numerous awards including the Jesse Award for Commentator of the Year and the Dallas Bar Association’s Stephen H. Philbin Award for Excellence in Legal Reporting. Steffy has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas A&M University. He is a past president of the Texas A&M Former Journalism Students Association and a member of the professional advisory board for the Texas Tech University School of Mass Communications.
